Bodhi is not suicidal, he's just used to thinking that he's expendable. All Imperial soldiers are; there are literally thousands more to fill you place so losing a dozen or so at a time is really no big deal. Because of this, he doesn't possess a single ounce of self-preservation in his body. He takes the hits and the pain and the abuse because he's not important, the others are. He maintains that mindset even after the events of Scarif, much to the horror of his friends.
Ideas:
+Bodhi takes a shot meant for Jyn/Cassian and it nearly kills him in the process.
+He volunteers for the incredibly dangerous, practically suicide missions because he can get in and out easier and he thinks it's no big loss if he gets shot out of the sky so long as it's not one of his friends
+They get capture by Imperial guards and Bodhi volunteers to be the team whipping boy if it will keep the guards from hurting his teammates
Basically I just want Bodhi putting himself in ridiculously dangerous situations and getting hurt and the rest of the team just being like "wtf man?!" And then them sitting him down and very patiently explaining that he is not expendable and they like him in one piece, thank you very much.
