I'm always curious about kink memes and the ratio of prompting to filling. So fellow anons, do you prefer to only prompt or only fill or some combination of both?
I go way toward the filling end of this because I suck at coming up with ideas. Kinkmemes are one of the best sources of cool inspiration and I'm especially keen on seeing prompts for weird rare-pairs or weird situations (or both).
I've been active on three kinkmemes in my time and I've posted maaaaybe three prompts between them. I've filled once here so far, but I expect I'll end up doing a half-dozen or so, depending on how much activity is maintained.
I prompt on occasion when I have an idea I like that I don't plan to write, but I've been burned by kink memes in the past with people using prompts I've posted to soapbox or character/pairing bash, so I tend to avoid it for those reasons.
I like kink memes because I can fill whatever sparks my interest. It's one of the only times I'll write for a prompt. I tend to stay away from fic exchanges or letting people send me prompts on tumblr because, like I said above, I've been burned by only identity headcanons, soapboxing, or character/pairing bashing. While I think people should be able to have those headcanons (not the character/pairing bashing, though), I don't really like when I'm forced or guilted into writing them. They're such subjective things, after all, and I want to be able to choose to write something of that nature just as someone wants to choose to read those types of fics instead of having it forced upon them as a fill to their prompt.
Also, I know there are people who post prompts and don't write, so I want to do my part by fillings prompts to keep the meme alive and active. Not to mention, it's a great way for me to explore new characters or pairings or kink anonymously. If I like it, I can crosspost it. If I don't like the finished project, it can just live forever in anonymity on the kink meme.
I don't know if I've ever posted a prompt on a kink meme. I mostly just lurk, occasionally +1 a prompt, and write a fill or two if I'm inspired.
Unfortunately I get writer's block a lot, mostly where I can't come up with anything to connect the beginning of a story to the main action and end. I have like three year-old incomplete fills leftover from the tfa kink meme.
In 95% of the cases I prompt. I wrote a fill for Star Trek once and it became a very personal one shot about mental illness, which is maybe why I completed it, but it took me foreeeeeeeeeeever. I have the discipline of a wet paper towel.
Prompting is a way of getting ideas out of my head. It is horrible when there is no kink meme to post an idea and I have to live with this plot stuck in my head. Damn you, The Flash! For giving me the idea for AU, where Nora Allen lived and Barry's dad died and not having a proper kink meme in the fandom to post it! (Serious too many dads and no moms in this show...)
Same anon as above: Update - Write post about never filling anything - 3 hours later being 1500 words into a fill about stromtrooper culture, written in English, which is not my mother tongue... I jinxed myself...
Prompt because I can never finish writing anything. I try to limit myself to only a few prompts and never very long ones since I know those aren't popular.
